Nothing Happens when you try to Search
When you click on the 'Submit Search' button a small yellow window should open in the top left hand corner for a few seconds and new big windows for each search engine you have clicked. The following are possible explanations if nothing happens:

A. If you have the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer ( V 6.0 ) then it comes with a pop up blocker installed which stops Searchthingy bringing up new windows. There are two ways to solve the problem

Tools --> Pop up Blocker --> Turn off Pop-up Blocker
OR
Tools --> Pop up Blocker --> Pop-up Blocker Settings --> Paste in http://www.searchthingy.com/search.asp into the Address of Site to allow --> Add --> Close

B. You have enabled the pop up killer in a Netscape Browser. To change edit --> preferences --> privacy & Security --> Popup Windows

C. You have installed anti popup software

D. If you get a strange error message ( eg access denied ) or big white empty windows or other strange phenomenon, then this may be a Microsoft bug.To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

1. Quit all programs that are running ( you can leave this page open )
2. Click the Start Button ( normally at the bottom left of your screen )  and then click Run.
3. Put regsvr32 urlmon.dll into the little box ( use highlight, copy and paste ) and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.

If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files:

• Run regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
• Run regsvr32 Msjava.dll
• Run regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
• Run regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
• Run regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
• Run regsvr32 Browseui.dll
• Run regsvr32 Shell32.dll  (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

Then reboot your computer. If that doesn't work then read the full story from Microsoft

E. You have just disabled Java Script? If you disabled it earlier you would have received a warning when you arrived on site. You can read more here

How do I get rid of the "History"
When you start to fill in the item you are searching for you may well see a drop down list of similar searches you made in the past! This is a Microsoft feature called "autocomplete" and is nothing to to do with us. To stop this go here or do a search and look for how to turn it off and remove history for forms
